His fields of research focuses on popular music and the analysis of contemporary forms of music and multimedia. On these topics, Alessandro has published essays in miscellanies and journals such as 20th-century Music ,  IASPM@Journal ,  Rock Music Studies, and The Journal of Film Music. His book,  Mediatization in Popular Music Recorded Artifacts: Performance on Record and on Screen (Lexington Books, 2019) is dedicated to outlining the foundations of an analytical approach to critically address the relationship between musical performance and its fixation on record or in various types of audio-visual products.
