Martin did his PhD in at the University of Pavia, Italy. His research focuses on the live music scene in the city of Milan during the economic boom and it features a fusion between digital techniques (geographical visualization and network analysis) and field research. He is a trainer in humanistic data visualization at the Digital Humanities winter school EnExDi (Poitiers, Lyon) and has been an adjunct professor at the University of Milan and Ferrara. He graduated in classical violin at the Conservatory of Milan. He is a recording and touring musician for different pop music projects across Europe.
