Biography
Richard is a long-time producer of techno/acid dance music and occasional amateur classical guitarist. After working as a project manager within software development for many years, Richard has pursued a full-time focus on music. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Music at the University of Liverpool, which involves an ethnographic investigation into the concept of the underground within dance music scenes, analysing this within the context of threats from gentrification and COVID-19.
His MA in Music Industry Studies awarded by the University of Liverpool in 2018, featured an ethnographic dissertation critically examining aspiring musicians’ use of internet platforms for career development. Other research interests include issues pertaining to the live music sector, music policy and the use of mapping technologies to represent data.
